Country Flashback: NOSTALGIA AND FIFTY YEARS OF COUNTRY MUSIC
"Country Flashback" is back!
It's a weekly, three-hour nostalgia program that just happens to feature your favorite country classics.
The first two hour block features a spotlight year and artist. Each segment features a different theme, creating variety within the show. The third hour, the “Country Flashback Jukebox” is music focused with each segment usually featuring four songs from four different decade.
While music content of the program primarily covers 1965 – 1995, this is not your typical country oldies program. It is a nostalgia show that just happens to play country legends.
“Country Flashback” ties its' playlist into what was going on in the world when the songs were on the charts. It takes listeners back, not to just when the songs were on the radio, but to the things going on in their lives at that time.
We also give listeners the stories behind the songs, frequently from the artists themselves. Since the program has such a long history, we have a large catalog of interviews with country legends that have left us- Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, Conway Twitty, Eddy Arnold, B.J. Thomas, Chet Atkins, Eddie Rabbitt, Billy Joe Shaver and so many more.
We are also very careful with our music selections, taking into consideration not only what artist sang the song, but the production value of the record as well. In fact, we make sure to end the show with a 90's song that is still in most stations' rotation, making for a seamless transition back into their regular programming. Some shows play records we won't because we don't believe their production value is palatable to today's audience. Other shows don't have playlists that go back as far as “Country Flashback”, so we think we have found the proverbial “sweet spot” when it comes to the music.
